Digital Download Questions
-
Etsy never sends my files directly through email. They will send you a link letting you know it’s available to download after payment is finished processing, then the link in your email will take you to the Etsy Website where you will need to navigate to your recent purchases and find the download button under the digital product you purchased.
-
The Etsy app does not allow you to download your digital products through the app. You will either need to download the file on a computer or tablet or simply open up a browser app on your phone such as Chrome or Safari navigate to Etsy.com and log in to see your recent purchases and a download button will be available.
-
I use Zip Files to allow me to give you more printing formats because Etsy limits me from uploading more than 5 digital downloads.
For Mac
Double-click the ZIP file. This prompts the macOS Archive Utility tool to unzip the file and create a folder of the same name in the current directory. The ZIP file automatically persists.
OR Right-click the ZIP file. Then select either Open or Open With from the drop menu.
For Windows
Right-click the zipped folder saved to your computer. Choose "Extract All..." (an extraction wizard will begin). Click [Next >]. Click [Browse...] and navigate to where you would like to save the files.
-
A password prompt will only appear if you try to open the files in a editing software. I use passwords to protect my work from being plagiarized.
You do not need a password to print the PDF documents if you open it in Adobe Acrobat, Preview, or Microsoft Edge. All are free to download.
If the print shop is still asking for the password then they are trying to manipulate the file which is strongly advised against as it could interfere with the integrity of the dimensions and fit of your garment. Simply ask to speak to a manager who knows how to print pdfs or have them download Adobe Acrobat.
Pattern Questions
-
None of my patterns require you to add any seam allowance. Read all instructions as some seams may be different then others.
-
Most of my patterns come in layered documents. It’s possible I may have updated the file after you purchased it, in which case just shoot me a message and I will send the updated files. Otherwise, print the document in color if you can. I don’t do different patterned lines as it can distort some areas and look confusing.
-
Check to make sure you used the proper seam allowances for the pattern.
Make sure your pattern was printed to 100% scale. Check all size indications to make certain of this.
All bodies are different, minor alterations are encouraged to get the perfect fit! My patterns are sized based on industry increments, but some bodies grow larger in different ways especially when it starts to get into the plus sizes.
Double-check to make sure you printed off the correct layer and cut out the right size based off the measurement chart in the packet.
-
I do not use a separate lettering system for plus sizes nor do I use vanity sizing. I keep all my sizes on one page to keep things simple. On top of that, I size up in smaller increments to make fitting the garment perfectly more convenient. Keep in mind that off-the-rack brands can differ by what they consider a large by as much as 3 inches! So please don’t worry, nobody will see or know the size you chose and it should fit properly if you follow the measurement chart, follow all instructions, and do a basic fitting with some minor alterations for optimal fit.
I am a size-inclusive designer. Please consider these factors before getting offended about what size your measurements say you are. There’s not an easy solution to this issue without causing a domino effect of problems elsewhere.
